Lying on the road towards the Madeleine Pass, the village of SAINT MARTIN SUR LA CHAMBRE is a constantly growing village of 536 inhabitants. Houses are spread over the sunny, sheltered, green slopes with fantastic views of the Belledonne mountains and the Valley des Villards. It has a reputation as being one of the most attractive residential sectors in the Maurienne valley and boasts a tourist trade thanks to its two attractive campsites, a number of gîtes as well, one bed and breakfast and one restaurant “Le Clocher des Pères” 1 star Michelin.
The shops in LA CHAMBRE are 2km away and the village is near to the winter ski resorts of SAINT FRANCOIS LONGCHAMP and MONTAIMONT. It is also a perfect starting out point for cycling tours in the Maurienne and nearby activities include short walking trails, fishing, tennis.. and a few kilometres higher up in altitude, walking trails in the pastures.

In the various hamlets you will find St Joseph in la Côte and Saint-Antoine in Montoudras whose retable dates from the 17th century and displays some attractive Corinthian capitals on the bare columns that frame a painting that might possibly be a piece by Dufour.
The church, dedicated to Saint Martin has been altered through the times, and most noticeably in 1630. The retable dates from the 19th century and is embellished with a painting by Guille and 4 by Dufour.
